New book on “Religion and Social Capital” out now! July 13, 2012 9:11 pm My dissertation on religion and social capital in Europe is now out in book form! The role of religion in the creation of social capital – i.e. civic networks and social trust – is highly ambivalent, both theoretically and empirically. In this book I identify the conditions under which religion serves as a vital resource for democracy. I argue that the relation between religion and social capital varies over religious groups as well as over national contexts and can therefore be systematically explained. Traunmüller, R.
